Associated Stigmas

An impartial informed awareness of the risks and consequences associated with Sexually Transmitted Infections needs to be cultivated. A fear of the unknown, or the associated stigmas, can instil horror and consequently positively affect sexual behaviour. This was evident in the decrease in STI transmissions at around the time of the AIDS campaign in the 1980’s.
Unfortunately an obstinate attitude generated alongside the negative impact of these imbued fears and associated stigmas, breeds ignorance and consequently impacts on the lives of the sufferers.
With reference to Freudian symbolism, this collection alludes to something revered and protected, whilst considering the focuses and concerns of sufferers. These wearable items are therefore potential vehicles for generating awareness of the symptoms and treatments of Sexually Transmitted Infections.
