Although often considered a grey and industrial urban habitat, Birmingham is home to one of the four UK Jewellery Quarters. Utilising this urban landscape as a starting point, I sought and repurposed kitchen equipment which presented industrial seams and pressed details; techniques employed within our industry. As with the City’s preconceptions, these pieces required the detail of finery and significance and so each was embellished with a citrine, set in 18ct wire.  My materials delivered the title for this collection ‘Baking Tin & Grater’ which sounds rather like a firm of solicitors; quite appropriate for such a Magic City.
